Watch →Taegeuk Poomsae
The eight colored-belt forms of the World Taekwondo curriculum, from yellow belt through the final test before black belt.
Taegeuk 1 — Il Jang 태극 1장
The first form. Il Jang means "heaven and light" and introduces the walking stance, low block and middle punch — the foundation everything after it is built on.
Watch → Orange BeltTaegeuk 2 — Ie Jang 태극 2장
Introduces the high block and the front kick in sequence, and asks for more control through the turns than Il Jang did.
Watch → Green BeltTaegeuk 3 — Sam Jang 태극 3장
Adds the knife-hand strike and back stance. This is usually the first form where students feel the difference between doing the moves and performing the form.
Watch → Blue BeltTaegeuk 4 — Sa Jang 태극 4장
A noticeable step up: spear-hand strike, swallow-form block, and side kicks that demand real balance to hold cleanly.
Watch → Purple BeltTaegeuk 5 — Oh Jang 태극 5장
Introduces the hammer fist and elbow strike, plus the cross stance. Power starts mattering as much as accuracy here.
Watch → Brown BeltTaegeuk 6 — Yuk Jang 태극 6장
Roundhouse kicks and the open-hand outer block, with turns that punish sloppy footwork. The pace picks up.
Watch → Red BeltTaegeuk 7 — Chil Jang 태극 7장
Tiger stance, knee strike and the scissor block. One of the most technically dense forms in the Taegeuk set.
Watch → Red / Black BeltTaegeuk 8 — Pal Jang 태극 8장
The last Taegeuk form and the final test before black belt. Jumping front kick and double punches, performed at full speed.
Watch →Black Belt Poomsae
